Twice named to the All-NCC football team, and was selected as the league’s outstanding offensive lineman as a senior. Honorable mention on the Associated Press Little All-America football squad. Hyland started the final four games of his sophomore year including the 1967 Pecan Bowl, and went on to play in the 1968 Pecan Bowl and the 1969 Camellia Bowl. He also lettered in track at NDSU.
