Second team All-America by the Football Gazette in 1988 and honorable mention All-America by the Associated Press...Two-time first team All-North Central Conference in both 1987 and 1988...Co-captain and MVP of the 1988 NCAA championship team...Four-year starter with 278 career tackles...Made 25 tackles-for-loss including 10 quarterback sacks...Had 16 pass breakups...Started in three national title games for NDSU in 1985, 1986 and 1988...The first four-time Academic All-NCC selection alongside teammate Casey Bradley...NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner...National Strength and Conditioning All-American...Born and raised in Mahnomen, Minn...Lettered in football and basketball three years each and was a two-time schoolboy national champion in AAU freestyle wrestling...Led the state of Minnesota with 1,888 rushing yards in 1983 and was named to the all-state team...Set school records at Mahnomen for rushing yards in a season (1,888) and career (3,332), single-season all-purpose yards (2,316), and single season rushing attempts (248) and yards per carry (7.6)...Graduated from NDSU in 1989 with a bachelor's degrees in physical education and economics...Graduated first in class in 1992 from the UND law school, where he made the Dean's List all six semesters and received multiple academic awards and scholarships...He was a trial attorney for Vogel Law Firm in Fargo from 1992 to 1998 and has practiced with Rust, Stock, Rasmusson & Knutson out of Crookston, Minn., since 1999...He has been State's Attorney for Steele County in North Dakota since 2002 and also served as State's Attorney and Assistant State's Attorney in Griggs County...He and his wife, Sally, reside in Hillsboro, N.D., with their daughter, Madison.
