Hired in 1970 as the associate plant services director at NDSU, he held that position for more than 23 years before becoming director of the NDSU physical plant...During that tenure, he was active in the remodeling, maintenance and renovation of numerous campus buildings, including the Memorial Union, Dacotah Field and the Bison Sports Arena...He was also involved in several new construction projects, including the Ellig Sports Complex and Newman Outdoor Field...Named Bison Booster of the Year in 1987 and was an honorary football coach and field superintendent in 1988...Served on the Team Makers board of directors and was president in 1991-92...Earned service awards from the Big Brother Big Sister program from 1986-1990 and a service appreciation award for the 1977 NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships staged at NDSU...A graduate of nearby Hawley High School in Minnesota.
