One of the greatest coaches in the history of college football, he started his career at North Dakota State in 1906. His first two Bison grid teams went 4-0 (1906) and 3-0 (1907) before he moved to Washington and continued the string with nine more undefeated campaigns. His 65-0-3 record over 11 straight seasons is incredible. He also coached at Navy, Cornell and Boston College with a 33-year record of 180-45-15. He is a member of the National Football Foundation's College Football Hall of Fame (1951).
