Bison Athletic Hall of Fame
An all-conference football selection in 1935 when North Dakota State won its third North Central Conference championship. Sloan was inducted into the Illinois High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 1975 following an impressive 19-year prep coaching career. Sloan-coached basketball teams charted an impressive 349-104 won-lost record, good for a .770 winning percentage. Four of his teams made the finals of the Illinois state tournament. The 1952-53 campaign was his most successful, his team going unbeaten during the regular season and then winning the 1953 state title.
