Three-year starter at inside linebacker and first team All-American selection his senior year by The Football Gazette … Named a second team All-American by the Associated Press, Daktronics NCAA Division II and D2football.com in 2000 … Two-time first-team all-Midwest Region … Two-time all-North Central Conference first team selection ... Sparked defense that helped Bison advance to the NCAA Division II semifinals during 2000 season … Led the team in tackles in each of his last two seasons … Finished with 78 tackles including 53 assists in 1999 … Collected 62 tackles in 2000 including 32 solos … Graduate of St. Mary's High School in Bismarck, N.D., where he was an all-state and all-conference tight end and linebacker … Played in a pair of state football championships as a junior and senior for former Bison Dan Smrekar … Graduated from NDSU in 2001 with a bachelor's degree and went into Financial Services with New York Life … He owns and operates Maher Financial Group, a financial advisory firm in Fargo. Jared and his wife, former Bison women's basketball player Beth Bue Maher, reside in Fargo with their four children Annabelle, Emmalise, JT and Slyvia James.
