Three-time NCAA Division II All-American placing in third in 1979 (142), fourth in 1977 (142) and sixth in 1976 (134) ... North Central Conference 142-pound champion in 1978, and three-time NCC runner-up in 1976 (134), 1977 (142), & 1979 (142) ... Remains in the Bison top 10 in career wins and winning percentage with a record of 99-22-2 (.816) ... Member of NDSU's first NCC championship team in 1979 ... Graduate assistant coach for North Dakota State in 1980 and 1981 ... A native of Bismarck, N.D., he was a two-time state wrestling champion and four-year letterwinner at Bismarck High School ... He was also a member of the state champion cross country team and a three-year letterman ... He was inducted into the North Dakota Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1990 ... Has been employed with International Dairy Queen Corporation since 1981 and has held a variety of positions within the finance, marketing and operations departments in Minneapolis and Dallas ... He is currently the Executive Vice President/Franchise Operations, which includes the responsibility for developing the strategic direction, the initiatives of the operations team, and supervision of field staff members throughout the United States ... He has been involved as a youth soccer coach for over 20 years ... Lon and his wife, Julie, have three children, Travis, Spencer and Delanie, and currently reside in the Minneapolis area.
