All-America for the Bison in two sports in the late 1970s, earning second-team Associated Press All-America honors as a free safety in football in 1978 and placing fourth in the nation on the wrestling mat as a junior in 1977-78.

Kozlowski earned first team All-North Central Conference honors twice on the gridiron, and charted 286 career tackles, 18 pass breakups, eight pass interceptions and seven forced fumbles. He was touted as one of the best run-support safeties in the nation. He twice earned NCC Player of the Week honors in his career.

Kozlowski had professional tryouts with the Minnesota Vikings in 1979 and the Kansas City Chiefs in 1980. On the mat, he placed third in the NCC twice (177 in 1977 and 190 in 1978). After graduating from NDSU with a degree in business, he has had a career in the insurance industry.
