Bison Athletic Hall of Fame
Schlieman set one of the most prestigious individual records in the annals of NDSU basketball. In 1967, in a game played in the Astrodome against nationally ranked University of Houston, he scored 50 points against the Cougars who were led by All-American Elvin "Big E" Hayes. His 24 field goals scored in that game still stand as a Bison single-game field goal record. Named to the all-conference team in 1967 and 1968, he received honorable mention on the NCAA College Division All-America team in 1968. Schlieman went on to earn the rank of major in the U.S. Air Force.
