Odegaard played defensive tackle on three North Central Conference football titles in 1964, 1965 and 1966. “The Big O” starred on NDSU's first national championship football team when they defeated Grambling in the 1965 Pecan Bowl. In 1966, Odegaard was named first team Little All-America at defensive middle guard. He went on to become the superintendent of Thistledew Camp, Togo, Minn., a unit of the Minnesota State Department of Corrections.
