The North Dakota State University basketball teams will open the 2004-05 season with "Midnight Madness" the night of Friday, Oct. 15, at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. It will be the first Bison basketball event in the Division I ranks.
Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. Doors are scheduled to open at 10:30 p.m. shortly after the conclusion of the NDSU volleyball match with the University of Winnipeg.
Food and beverages from Cloverdale Meats and Pepsi will be served prior to the midnight festivities. Player introductions, a three-point shootout, a slam-dunk contest, and intrasquad scrimmages by both Bison teams are planned along with performances by the NDSU spirit squads.
Saturday, Oct. 16, is the first official practice date of the season for both teams, by NCAA rules.
The regular-season openers for both NDSU basketball teams are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 19. The Bison women will be home to Dickinson State at 7 p.m., while the NDSU men play at Kansas State at 8:30 p.m.
Both teams have exhibition games scheduled beforehand. The Bison women play at home Sunday, Oct. 31, against Athletes in Action, and the NDSU men play a home exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 6, against Minnesota State-Moorhead before traveling to Drake for a second tuneup on Saturday, Nov. 13.
