Track Trio to Compete at 21st Annual Jim Bush USATF West Region Championships

North Dakota State's Laura Hermanson, Halley Odegaard and Heather Zander are scheduled to compete at the 21st Annual Jim Bush USATF West Region Championships held at Occidental College in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 4.
The West Region Track & Field Championships is part of the USATF National Club Championship Series. These championships are scored meets among USATF Clubs. Regional Championships are also being contested in the North, South, and Eastern United States prior to the 2006 USATF National Club Track & Field Championships on July 15-16 at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.
In the season finale for the NDSU track & field squad, the Bison cruised to a team title at the Division I independent championships held in Greeley, Colo. on May 12-13. NDSU gathered 262 points to runner-up UC Davis' 134 for their first crown in two attempts. At that meet, Odegaard bested the field in the high jump, Hermanson won the 400 and Zander captured the heptathlon and the 200.
Odegaard opens competition for the Bison with the long and high jumps which are set for a 3 p.m. local start. Zander is entered in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Hermanson will compete in the 800.
All three student-athletes have reached or approached the school's all-time outdoor list in their first year of competition at NDSU.
Odegaard is tied for fifth all-time in the high jump with a clearance of 5-8 3/4, Hermanson is sixth in the 800 with a 2:11.83 and Zander rests in 11th place all-time in the 200 with a 24.81.
