ELMHURST, Ill. – The back-to-back Summit League champion North Dakota State men's basketball team has been picked to finish second in The Summit League this season, according to the annual preseason poll of league coaches, sports information directors and media.
NDSU sophomore A.J. Jacobson was voted to the preseason All-Summit League first team, while senior guard Kory Brown and junior forward Dexter Werner claimed spots on the second team.
South Dakota State topped the preseason poll with 541 points and 30 first-place votes. The Bison were second with 481 points and three first-place tallies, and Oral Roberts came in third.
Jacobson was an honorable mention All-Summit League pick last season and was the only freshman named to the league's All-Newcomer Team a year ago. Werner earned the league's Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2014-15 season.
Jacobson is the only underclassman on the preseason All-Summit League teams. He started all 28 games he played last season, averaged 11.6 points per game, and shot 40 percent from three-point range.
With 73 victories over the past three seasons, the Bison are in the midst of the most successful three-year stretch in program history. NDSU's current 25-game home winning streak is tied with Kansas for the fifth-longest active streak in the nation.
NDSU will host the University of Mary in an exhibition game at Scheels Arena on Nov. 4 before traveling to UC Davis for the regular season opener on Nov. 13. Single game tickets go on sale Thursday, Oct. 15, at GoBison.com/tickets and (888) 231-6378.
