Strege Promoted to Associate Head Coach for NDSU Men’s Basketball

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State's Luke Strege has been promoted to associate head coach of the Bison men's basketball program, head coach David Richman announced Wednesday, June 10.
Strege is entering his fourth season at NDSU after joining the staff in June 2023.
"Coach Strege's impact on our program, both on and off the court, has continued to help us elevate to new heights," said Richman. "Luke's competitive nature, consistent character, relentless work ethic, and strong knowledge of the game have moved us forward and have helped him earn this much deserved new title. We are extremely appreciative of Luke and his family's passion for Bison Basketball."
After posting 21 wins in the 2024-25 season, the Bison set a school record with 27 victories in 2025-26. NDSU swept the 2026 Summit League regular season and tournament championships and earned its sixth NCAA Tournament berth since 2009.
Strege directed the Bison offense to national prominence in the 2024-25 season, leading all 360-plus Division I schools in three-point percentage. NDSU also led the nation in true shooting percentage (62.2%) and ranked second in effective field goal percentage (58.2%).
The Bison set a school record with 380 three-pointers made in 2024-25 – an average of 11.9 made three-pointers per game, which ranked them among the top 15 in NCAA Division I history for threes per game.
Strege came to NDSU from Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo., where he served as head coach for eight seasons and posted a record of 199-46.
