FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State softball program has signed transfer Heidi Barber to the 2026 recruiting class, announced head coach Darren Mueller on Wednesday.
Barber, a catcher from Lino Lakes, Minnesota, played her last two seasons at UConn, including 52 starts as a sophomore last season.
Over two seasons, Barber played in 78 games for the Huskies, with 68 starts behind the plate. She hit .207 last season and has a career .346 on base percentage, with 31 RBIs on four home runs, eight doubles and one triple. In the field, she threw out five baserunners last season from behind the plate and has seven caught stealings in her career with a .988 fielding percentage.
Before UConn, Barber was a First Team All-State selection for White Bear Lake. Barber led her team to a pair of section Championships and one conference title, recording a career.447 batting average, 25 doubles, and 34 runners caught stealing. She was also a four-year letter winner in basketball, two-year letter winner in football, and one-year letter winner in golf.
Barber is the seventh signee for NDSU for the 2026 recruiting class, joining six freshman who signed last fall once the signing period opened.
