Montana State Edges NDSU Volleyball in Five Sets

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The North Dakota State volleyball team came up short against Montana State, 3-2, at Shroyer Gym in front of 1,155 fans on Thursday night.
Courtney Peters, who made her first career start, led the Bison (4-2) with a match-high 14 kills to go along with six digs, four blocks, four aces and two assists. Sarah Pfiffner posted her second straight double-double with 39 assists and 10 digs, while Rya Borer added in a season-best 21 digs with six assists.
The two teams split the first four sets after Montana State (5-2) was able to take advantage of 25 NDSU errors. The Bison responded in the fifth frame running out to a 4-0 advantage with a with a kill from Arianna Blohm. NDSU then stretched its lead to 7-2 with another kill from Peters. However, the Bobcats stormed back to steal a 10-9 lead following a service error. After a block from Emma Tallman and Kendall Worwa, Montana State kept the momentum and closed the frame with five straight points to seal the set, 15-10, and the match, 3-2.
NDSU will wrap up play at the Bobcat Invitational tomorrow against Portland. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m. CT
