FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team saw its five-match win streak come to a close after dropping a 3-1 decision against Omaha on Saturday afternoon at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

Lauren Jansen paced the Bison (9-3, 1-1 Summit) after tying a career-high 22 kills for the second straight match. The Plainfield, Ill., native also added eight digs with two assists and one block. Sarah Pfiffner filled her stat line with a match-high 43 assists, seven kills, six digs and four blocks. Zoe John also reached double digits in kills for the fourth straight match with 11.

After splitting the first two sets, both teams worked through a match-high six tie scores in the third frame. Omaha (8-4, 2-0 Summit) used a late 3-0 run to open up a 20-16 lead with a block from Alizabeth Jacobsen and Lara Maric. NDSU answered with a 5-1 run of its own to lock the set, 21-21, following a kill from Jansen. However, the Mavericks took advantage of attack errors to close the set on a 4-2 run to win, 25-23.

NDSU quickly doubled up Omaha in the fourth set, 8-4, after Jansen connected on a kill. The Mavericks slowly pulled their way back to lock the score, 17-17, following a service error. Omaha then used a key 4-1 run to build a 21-18 lead after an attack error. The Mavericks held off the Bison the rest of the way to secure the set, 25-23, and the match, 3-1.

NDSU will be back in action at Oral Roberts on Thursday. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
