Benjamin Dishong joined the North Dakota State University athletic communications office in July 2021 as an assistant director. He is the media contact for Bison soccer, wrestling, softball and men's golf.
Prior to joining NDSU, Dishong served as the Assistant AD for Communication at Rogers State University for three years, overseeing all operations in the Athletics Communication Department for 12 athletic programs. Dishong also spent three years as the Assistant AD for External Relations at Davis & Elkins College, where he handled similar duties in the promotion of 24 athletic programs.
Previous roles also include Director of Athletics Communication at Belhaven University, Sports Information Director at Defiance College, and Graduate Assistant at Delta State University.
While in undergrad at Tennessee, Dishong worked as a freelance correspondent for the Knoxville (Tenn.) News Sentinel for three years, while also serving as the Director of Media Relations for the University of Tennessee club hockey program and the South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference. Dishong also worked with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League during the 2009 season.
The Saint Leonard, Maryland native received his Master’s in Sport and Human Performance from Delta State University in May of 2013. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Electronic Media from the University of Tennessee in May of 2009. He also holds a pair of Associate Degrees from the College of Southern Maryland in Journalism and Communications. He resides in Fargo with his son, Brooks.
