More than 100,000 fans each year visit Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome to watch the Bison, ranking North Dakota State in the top 10 nationally for attendance in the Football Championship Subdivision.Â
NDSU's home since 1993, the Fargodome can pack in 19,000 fans for football games. The dome is also a popular stop for major concert tours with seating for as many as 25,000 fans.
Known as one of the loudest environments to play college football, the Fargodome crowd routinely goes over 100 decibels. It is one of the most difficult places in the country for opponents to play.
BleacherReport.com named the Fargodome among its top 50 greatest college stadiums in 2011. With more than 240 teams combined in the FBS and FCS, the Fargodome is one of the top venues anywhere to watch Division I football.
In addition to a statewide television audience for every NDSU regular season home game, ESPN has broadcasted several FCS playoff games since 2011 and brought its flagship program "SportsCenter" to Gate City Bank Field in October 2015.
The Fargodome boasts one of the most expansive video board systems in college football with 12 displays combining for more than 8,500 square feet and 8 million LEDs.Â
Video boards measuring approximately 29 feet high by 100 feet wide soar above both end zones with rear-facing displays measuring 11.5 feet high by 24 feet wide for spectators seated in the upper rows of the end zones.
All four corners of the field have additional displays measuring 20 feet high by 22 feet wide, and there are ribbon displays over the four field entrances measuring 3 feet by 33 feet wide.
Other recent facility upgrades include an HD video monitor system throughout the concourse in 2015, a new playing surface in 2022 featuring AstroTurf GameDay Grass, and new stadium sport lighting in 2011 to meet HD television standards.
