LAS VEGAS - North Dakota State cornerback Marion Moore was named Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week on Monday, Nov. 2, by the conference office. It is Moore's second award of the season.
Moore, a redshirt freshman from Madison, Wis., was responsible for two fourth-quarter takeaways as North Dakota State pulled away late to beat UTEP and improve to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain West.
Moore intercepted a pass at NDSU's 16 and returned it 22 yards, setting up a six-play Bison scoring drive for a 24-7 lead. Two plays later, he scooped and scored on a 46-yard fumble return to go ahead 31-7. It was his second defensive touchdown of the season.
Moore is the FBS co-leader with five interceptions. He has made 8 of 9 starts at cornerback for the Bison, who are allowing the second-fewest passing yards in Division I this year (124.4 ypg).
North Dakota State returns to action Saturday, Nov. 14, at Hawaii before closing out conference play at home Nov. 21 against Northern Illinois.
