NDSU Suffers Setback at Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Reneya Hopkins matched a career-high 15 points as North Dakota State fell short at Wyoming, 71-45, on Sunday afternoon at Arena-Auditorium.
Hopkins connected on a career-best four triples on nine attempts to pace the Bison with a game-high 15 points. She also matched a career-high three steals and added two rebounds and one assist to her stat line. Heaven Hamling reached double figures for the fifth straight game with 10 points and shot 4-of-4 from the free throw line and 3-of-4 from the field.
The Bison (3-6) shot 76.9 percent (10-13) from the free throw line and 28.8 percent (15-52) from the field. Wyoming (4-4) drained 11 three pointers in comparison to NDSU's five. NDSU also collected 38 rebounds with Emily Behnke leading the way with a team-high six.
Wyoming opened the contest taking advantage of 11 NDSU turnovers in the first half to steal a 26-19 edge at the break. The Cowgirls then stole the momentum in the third quarter outscoring the Bison, 22-10, in the frame to build a 48-29 advantage. Wyoming didn't look back from there and opened up its largest lead of the contest, 71-42, with 1:19 to play. The Cowgirls held off the Bison the rest of the way to earn the victory, 71-45.
The Bison return to Scheels Center on Sunday, Dec. 19 to wrap up non-conference play hosting Jamestown. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
