FARGO — Alumni, fans and friends of North Dakota State University Athletics set dollar and donor count records on NDSU Giving Day, surpassing $500,000 with gifts from 860 donors Oct. 27 and 28. As an institution, NDSU raised over $1.9 million with 1,700+ donors participating.
"We continue to be so appreciative of the incredible support we receive from fans, donors and alumni," said Director of Athletics Matt Larsen. "Their collective support of Bison Athletics and the entire NDSU community is the driving force behind our success, growth and positive impact on our student-athletes. It was a great day to be a Bison!"
The preliminary dollar figure marked the first the time NDSU Athletics raised over half a million with total of $503,897 from 860 donors. The final dollar and donor counts were an improvement of over $10,000 and 120 donors, respectively.
Before Giving Day began, the department set a record for the number of challenges as well with 34 donors making milestone marker gifts to incentive giving throughout the 24-hour day. With all 34 challenges being met, NDSU Athletics raised $307,000 in challenge gift dollars and nearly $200,000 in cash gifts.
Gifts for Giving Day supported the general Green and Gold Fund, sport-specific Green and Gold Funds for each of NDSU's 12 athletic programs, as well as initiatives such as the Mental Health and Wellness Fund, and the NDSU cheer and dance teams.
The Green and Gold Fund, managed by NDSU Athletics, provides financial resources for our student-athletes and is vital to the Bison Athletic Department's mission of recruiting, retaining and developing the best-of-the-best at NDSU.
Gifts to the Green and Gold Fund are a great way for Team Makers members to earn extra priority points with fans collecting one (1) point per $50. Priority points recognize continuous loyalty and philanthropic support, and are used to determine priority in the allocation of new or improved seating, assignment of single-game tickets, reserved parking, reserved tailgating, and football playoff and basketball tournament ticket disbursement.
