NDSU Volleyball Sweeps Tennessee Tech, 3-0

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The North Dakota State volleyball team cruised past Tennessee Tech, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse.
Zoe John led the way for the Bison (2-0) with a match-high 13 kills. She also notched a .391 hitting percentage on 23 attempts. Lauren Jansen recorded her second straight double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Sarah Pfiffner also handed out a match-high 31 assists with two service aces.
NDSU got off to a fast start in the opening frame with four straight points to build a 15-9 advantage following an attack error. The Bison then stretched their lead to 19-11 with a kill from Jansen. NDSU went on to win the set, 25-16.
The Bison carried the energy into the second set putting together a 4-1 run to make the score 17-11 after a kill from Jansen. The Golden Eagles (0-1) battled back to lock the contest, 20-20, following an attack error. The Bison then took advantage of a pair of kills from John and Kendall Worwa to regain the lead, 22-20. NDSU held off Tennessee Tech to win the second frame, 25-23.
The two teams worked through a match-high eight tie scores and four lead changes in the third set before the Bison assembled four straight points, including two kills from John to grab a 22-18 lead. NDSU went on to win the set, 25-20, and the match, 3-0.
NDSU will be back in action on Thursday at the Boise State Classic against Boise State. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. CT
