
Six Men?s Track and Field Athletes to Compete at 22nd Annual Jim Bush USATF West Region Championships

NDSU track & field athletes Chad Bergan, Jake Januszewski, Greg Liebl, Cory Olson, Ross Schilling and Eric Stroh will compete at the Jim Bush USATF West Region Championships at Occidental College in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 3.
The West Region Championships serve as a qualifier for the USATF National Championships. Athletes that meet the qualifying standards set by the USATF will qualify for the 2007 USA National Championships in Indianapolis on June 20-24.
Januszewski, Liebl and Schilling are all found on the top five on NDSU's all-time performance lists. Schilling and Liebl rank third in school history in the 1,500 and 5,000, respectively and Januszewski is fourth all-time in the steeplechase.
Collectively, these six athletes combined for 59 of North Dakota State's meet-winning 273 points in individual events at the Division I independent outdoor track and field championships on May 12-13 in Davis, Calif.

QUALIFYING STANDARDS: Athletes will attempt to reach the qualifying standards listed below at the regional meets. If the can reach the "A" standard, they will automatically earn a berth at the 2007 USA National Championships in Indianapolis. If an athlete makes the "B" standard, they do not automatically qualify but still can earn a trip to Indianapolis depending on how many athletes hit the "A" standard.
For example, if only 20 athletes hit the "A" qualifying standard in the 800 meters, the four fastest times that made the "B" standard will earn also earn a berth to the national championships since the field size for the event is 24 competitors.
