McGlynn, Olson Qualify for NCAA Championships; Bison Sending 11 Entries to NCAA West Prelims

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team will send 11 entries to the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, scheduled for May 27-30 in Fayetteville, Ark.
The NCAA announced the top 48 declared entries in all individual events and the top 24 relay teams in each region on Thursday. The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 10-13.
In the decathlon, the top 24 athletes in the nation qualify directly through to the NCAA Championships. For the first time in the school's Division I history, the Bison will send two decathletes to Oregon, with Zach McGlynn qualifying at No. 5 in the nation and Paul Olson at No. 24.
NDSU joins Illinois, Kansas State and Duke as the only schools to send multiple entries to the NCAA Championships in the decathlon this year.
Kaden Pastian will be the top-ranked Bison entering next week's meet at No. 17 in the West for the shot put. Pastian will also compete in the hammer throw.
NDSU true freshmen Joshua Kyei-Baffour (110m hurdles) and Ryder Bickett (javelin) both qualified among the top 30 in the West.
