NDSU Track & Field Hires Matthew Harmeyer as Assistant Coach

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University track & field program has hired Matthew Harmeyer as an assistant coach to lead the jumps, NDSU director of track & field and cross country Stevie Keller announced Wednesday.
Harmeyer comes to NDSU from Nevada State University, where he coached jumps, hurdles, and combined events and managed operations for the 2025-26 season. Prior to Nevada State, he served two years at UNLV from 2023-25 as assistant coach for the jumps and combined events, as well as filling the role of director of operations.
"Bringing a coach of Matt's caliber into our program is a huge win," said Keller. "His extensive background and past success in the horizontal and vertical jumps speak for themselves. We are excited to welcome Matt and his family to the Bison Family, and I look forward to watching him continue to elevate our student-athletes and our jumps program."
Harmeyer was the assistant coach for jumps and combined events at Northern Arizona University from 2019-23.
In his time coaching at the Division I level between Northern Arizona and UNLV, Harmeyer coached 15 NCAA West Prelims qualifiers in six different events, including one NCAA Championships qualifier and All-American. At Northern Arizona, he coached 64 Big Sky Conference scorers and four individual conference champions.

Harmeyer began his coaching career in 2013 as a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater, Iowa State University, where he competed from 2010-13 primarily in the heptathlon and decathlon.
Following his time at Iowa State, he coached at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, and Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The NDSU women have won 34 out of 37 Summit League team championships since joining The Summit League prior to the 2008 season. The Bison men have captured 26 out of 37 Summit League team titles in the past 19 years.
