Anderson Defends Bison Open Cross Country Title

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State junior Kelby Anderson claimed the individual title at the Bison Open cross country meet for the second straight year, leading the efforts of the NDSU women on Friday evening at Rose Creek Golf Course.
Anderson took first place in a time of 13:38.9 for the four-kilometer course, winning by a margin of eight seconds.
The Bison women finished second in the team standings. South Dakota won the team title with 30 points, NDSU was second with 51, South Dakota State took third with 59, and North Dakota finished fourth with 100 points.
Behind Anderson, junior Jen Dufner finished seventh for the Bison in 14:29.2. Senior Alaysia Freetly (14:52.2) took 14th, sophomore Mikayla Koenig (14:52.6) placed 15th, and senior Melina Kuerschner (14:56.5) came in 18th to complete the team scoring for NDSU.
Kaleesa Houston was the top-finishing unattached Bison freshman in 26th place.
Anderson's winning time was 20 seconds faster than last season. Freetly trimmed 27 seconds off her Bison Open time from 2018.
