Russmann Headlines Postseason Honors for NDSU Soccer

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State soccer's Morgan Russmann was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year, headlining the postseason accolades for the Bison, announced the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Joining Russmann in league honors, Gabrielle Garrett and Ava Stanchina were named to the All-Summit Second Team, while Payton Mulberry, Amaya Garrett, Hannah Arnold and Sidney Armstrong received Honorable Mention All-Summit League honors. Freshmen Maddie Miller and Ambry Plate were also named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team.

Russmann, who was also named to the All-Summit League First Team, becomes a two-time recipient of the Offensive Player of the Year award after winning the honor during her freshman season in 2024. In 2026, Russmann was joint leader in the Summit League with five goals scored in league play. All five of her goals came from open play, which was best in the league. The next closest was three.

Gabrielle Garrett earns second team honors after a goal and three assists during the league campaign. Her goal came against South Dakota State on the final day of the regular season, giving NDSU a 1-0 win and the top spot in Pod A. It is the second all-league honor for Gabrielle, with the senior earning honorable mention honors in 2024.

Stanchina received her first all-league honor with her second-team selection. The senior defender finished as joint leader in the Summit League with four assists during the league season, including the assist to Gabrielle on the winning goal to take the top spot in the pod. Stanchina was also a key part of the backline that kept four shutouts in the league. In the regular season, she finished with a goal and a career high six assists.

Amaya Garrett picks up her third all-league honor of her career with an honorable mention selection. The defender played every minute for the Bison in league play, and all but three minutes during the regular season. She recorded a goal in the win over Kansas City and helped the backline to four league shutouts.

Mulberry takes her second all-league honor. After missing a majority of last season, Mulberry returned this year and started nine games in goal during league play. She kept four cleansheets and allowed just eight goals overall, .89 goals against average, third in the league. Her .843 save percentage finished highest in the league.

Arnold also picks up her second all-league honor. The senior midfielder played in every league game, logging 746 of a possible 900 minutes in various midfield roles for the Bison, scoring a goal against St. Thomas and adding an assist at South Dakota. After moving to the defensive midfield for the final three games, she helped the Bison keep two cleansheets over the final three games.

Armstrong receives her first all-league accolade with her honorable mention selection. The senior made nine appearances in league play and three starts down the stretch for the Bison. She scored the game-winning goal for NDSU at Kansas City and also provided the game-winning assist against North Dakota.

Miller was tabbed to the all-newcomer team after starting every game and playing every minute on the backline in league play and all but 15 minutes over the entire season. The true freshman helped the Bison keep four cleansheets in league play, and seven overall. She also added a goal and an assist during the regular season.

Plate was also tabbed to the all-newcomer team. After an injury limited her to just two brief appearances at the start of league play, Plate returned to the starting lineup for the final six games, helping NDSU go 4-1-1 down the final stretch, including three cleansheets. The true freshman also scored her first collegiate goal against North Dakota during the stretch.

Russmann's player of the year honor is the third offensive award for a Bison and the eighth overall for NDSU in the Summit League. It is just the second time a Bison has won multiple Summit League Player of the Year honors, joining Sierra Bonham, who won Goalkeeper of the Year in 2014 and 2015.

The seven all-league honors are also the most in the program's all-time history, breaking the record of six in 2015, 2016 and 2024.

The Bison will return to action in the Summit League Tournament semifinals. They are set to take on the winner of a quarterfinal match between Omaha and South Dakota. The semifinal will be on Thursday, November 12 at 2 p.m in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
