Decathletes, Goss Headline Day Two of Summit League Outdoor Championships

FARGO, N.D. – The Bison decathlon group headed by Zach McGlynn and Paul Olson marked the standout performances of the North Dakota State men's track & field team on the second day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships on Friday.
McGlynn scored a lifetime-best 7,922 points to run away with the Summit League decathlon title – setting a new school record, meet record, and facility record. His score ranks No. 4 in the NCAA this year.
McGlynn broke his previous school record from last year by 225 points.
Olson recorded a significant personal-best to take second in the decathlon. He totaled 7,601 points to rank fourth in NDSU history and among the Top 20 in the NCAA this season. Olson surpassed his previous high score by 316 points.
Bison junior Brady Goss used a strong finishing kick to claim the conference title in the 3,000m steeplechase.
The Bison men finished 2-3-4 in the shot put at the Summit League Championships. Kaden Pastian claimed second at 61-09.00 (18.82m), Paul Hoekman finished third with a throw of 56-10.00 (17.32m), and Jack Packer took fourth, throwing 55-01.50 (16.80m).
Pastian's personal-best moved him up to seventh in NDSU history and into the NCAA's top 30 this season.
NDSU freshman Carter Reckelberg took Summit League runner-up honors in the long jump with a mark of 24-06.25 (7.47m). Reece Grosserode placed fifth at a personal-best 23-08.25 (7.22m).
Andrew Berg took fifth in the high jump, clearing 6-09.50 (2.07m).
Four Bison men advanced to the finals in the 110m hurdles – Joshua Kyei-Baffour, Brooks Turner, Trey Knoke and Trey Heinrich.
Gabe Miles ran a personal-best 47.48 to advance to the 400m final, tying for 10th-fastest in school history. Zackery Bruder also qualified for the final.
Ethan Moe (1:52.78) and Kaleb Foltz (1:53.56) both advanced to the 800m final. Tyler Milkes qualified for the 100m dash final in 10.80.
The Summit League Outdoor Championships will conclude Saturday at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.
