NDSU Men’s Golf Finishes Day One of NCAA Marana Regional

MARANA, Ariz. – The North Dakota State men's golf team finished their first day of postseason competition at the NCAA Marana Regional at The Gallery Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
Gabe Benson (74) led the Bison during the first round of action. Benson logged a birdie on hole five and hole 11 along with 12 holes at par to open the event. Benson sits +2 overall in a tie for 37th going into the second round.
Rylin Petry (75) is just one shot behind after the opening day. Petry fired the lone Bison eagle for the day on the 11th, along with a pair of birdies on holes 2 and 17, to finish +3 on the day. The senior is tied for 46th after day one.
Andrew Ballou (76) carded a pair of back-to-back birdies to start the event. The freshman was even through 11 holes with a pair of birdies on holes six and seven to finish in a tie 53rd at +4 overall.
Carter White (78) and Jake Skarperud (78) wrapped up the NDSU golfers for the first day. White carded 14 pars and a birdie on hole six, and Skarperud recorded birdies on hole six and eight with 10 holes at par. The pair of Bison finished +6 on the day to tie for 65th.
The Bison are in 14th place after carding a team score of +15 on the opening day.
NDSU will continue with round two of the Regional on Tuesday, with tee times scheduled for 9 a.m. CT.
