Jansen Powers NDSU Volleyball Past Tulane, 3-2

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Lauren Jansen posted a career-high 22 kills to help the North Dakota State volleyball team outlast Tulane, 3-2, on Friday night at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse.
Jansen posted a match-best 22 kills on 43 attempts and notched a .419 hitting percentage. The Plainfield,Ill., native also contributed a team-best 15 digs with two assists. Arianna Blohm tallied 12 kills with three blocks, while Sarah Pfiffner made her Bison debut with a team-best 42 assists.
After splitting the first four sets that saw 28 ties and 11 lead changes, the two teams continued to battle into the fifth frame. After seven more tie scores in the frame, Blohm connected on back-to-back clutch kills to build an 11-9 edge. NDSU then pushed its lead to 14-10 following a block assist from Zoe John and Blohm. The Bison held off the Green Wave the rest of the way to win the set, 15-12, and the match, 3-2.
With the win, NDSU has won its season opener for the second straight season. The Bison have also won each of their last eight five-set matches dating back to the 2024 season.
NDSU will wrap up play at the Green Wave Classic against Tennessee Tech tomorrow. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
