NDSU Women’s Golf Finishes Third at Yellowstone Intercollegiate

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Hannah Dunk earned the sixth top 10 finish of her career as the North Dakota State women's golf team placed third at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate at Riverside Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Dunk (76-74-71—221) rocketed up the leaderboard in the final round with a score of 71, moving her into a tie for eighth at +5 overall. Dunk started of the day with five pars, before carding three consecutive birdies and a par on hole 9 to wrap up a front-nine 33, the lowest front-nine score by a Bison all tournament. Dunk has started the season with back-to-back top 10 finishes after coming in a tie for seventh at the NDSU Fall Invitational earlier this month.
Norah Roberts (73-73-78—224) and Belle Kongshaug (76-74-74—224) both finished inside the top 20 with a tie for 16th place at +8 overall. Roberts closed the round with six straight pars and a 39 on both nines. Kongshaug birdied four of five holes to start the second nine in the final round, wrapping up the day with a two-under 34 on the back-nine.
Jeri Lafleche (74-78-78—230) ended the tournament in a tie for 33rd at +14 overall. After 21 pars over the first two rounds, she fired seven straight pars to close out the final 18.
Avery Bartels (77-74-80—231) wrapped up the event for the Bison, finishing in a tie for 38th at +15. Bartels carded three birdies on the back-nine in round three, including another birdie on hole 18. Along with a birdie and an eagle in the previous two rounds, Bartels finished the tournament at four-under on the 18th hole, a 493-yard closing par-5.
The Bison (299-295-301—895) concluded the tournament at +31. They finished 21 strokes back of first place Montana State (289-297-288—874), while Weber State (301-291-294—886) finished second at +22 overall. It was the second straight top five finish at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate after coming in a tie for fourth last season.

The Bison return to competition next week as they travel to Davenport, Iowa for the Diane Thompson Invitational. The tournament will be hosted by Iowa at the Davenport Country Club on September 28-29.
