Box Score HAYWARD, Calif.--Angela Lazzaretto and Ashley Shadd each scored goals to lead Cal State-Hayward past North Dakota State 2-1 on Sunday, Nov. 7. before 130 fans at Pioneer Soccer Field.
Lazzaretto scored at the 18-minute mark of the first half and Shadd scored at the 78-minute mark of the second half. NDSU freshman Michelle Martinez cut the deficit to one with a goal at 82:53, but the Bison would not score again.
North Dakota State lost its seventh one-goal game of the season and finished the season with a 5-11-1 record.
Cal State-Hayward's record stands at 7-7-4. The Pioneers still have a chance for postseason action in Division III.
Martinez's unassisted tally was her team-leading sixth goal of the season. The freshman from Winnipeg, Manitoba also scored the Bison's lone goal on Friday in a 2-1 loss to UC Davis.
For the match, NDSU finished with eight shots on goal to Cal State-Hayward's six. The Bison led in total shots as well 12-8. Martinez and Carly Christensen each fired three shots for NDSU. Becky Skrypek, Jessica Parker and Sarah Panzer each added two shots.
Freshman Katie Stombaugh got the start in goal and turned away four Pioneer shots attempts.
