Cuadrado Ejected in 1-0 Loss at Weber State

Box Score

OGDEN, Utah?Defending Big Sky Conference champion Weber State University (7-4-1) notched its sixth-straight win with a 1-0 victory against North Dakota State (7-4) in women's soccer on Thursday, Oct. 6.

NDSU's Erin Tierney nearly broke a scoreless match with a shot from inside the box that ricocheted straight down off of the crossbar in the 22nd minute. Officials ruled that the ball did not break the plane of the goal on the play.

Arguing the call, Bison head coach Pete Cuadrado was issued a yellow card at 21:18.

With an assist from Linsey McFarland, Weber State's Rochelle Hoover scored the lone goal of the match with a shot past NDSU goalkeeper Karli Kopietz in the 32nd minute.

With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Cuadrado received a second yellow card and was ejected from the match at 43:22.

“Our team battled hard today in a very physical match,” Cuadrado said. “Both teams had chances. It could have gone either way.”

Kopietz turned back nine Wildcat shots in the first half of play. Her 10 saves in the match was one short of her season high.

After a 7-1 start, NDSU has now dropped three games in a row.

The Bison return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, when they face Southern Utah University in Cedar City. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 3 p.m. MT.
