North Dakota State Battles Oral Roberts to 0-0 Tie in Summit League Play

Box Score

TULSA, Okla. - After two heartbreaking overtime losses, North Dakota State's defense made sure it wouldn't happen three times in a row as the Bison battled Summit League opponent Oral Roberts to a 0-0 tie at the ORU Soccer Complex.  The tie brings NDSU's record to 10-6-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in Summit League play.

The Golden Eagles (8-6-3, 2-1-3) came out with the early momentum in the first 20 minutes, but NDSU was able to settle the game into their pace.  Freshman Abbey Stratton led the offensive charge for the Bison, firing three shots on goal against Oral Roberts goalkeeper Stef Gurley, while senior Patty Romeo and junior Nicole Rand each added a pair of shots on goal.  North Dakota State was especially aggressive in overtime, outshooting the Golden Eagles 3-0.

In net, sophomore goalkeeper Monica Morgan continued to be solid.  Morgan recorded five saves on the evening, bringing her season total to 81 and her career total to 163, four saves behind Margaret Palo (1996-97) for second all-time.  It was also her fifth shutout of the season, improving her career total to 13, and was her second tie in net for the Bison.

"I'm extremely pleased with the way the girls fought tonight," said head coach Pete Cuadrado.  "To go on the road and play a team like Oral Roberts who is always in the top of the league and hold them to a 0-0 tie says something about our team.  We're playing good soccer, and the results are going to come."

The Bison make the trip down to Shreveport, La., for its first-ever meeting with Centenary.  The Ladies are 5-10-2 on the season and 0-4-2 in the Summit League after battling South Dakota State to a similar 0-0 tie Friday night in Shreveport.  Kickoff against the Ladies is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.
