Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Four unanswered goals by the Air Force Academy was more than North Dakota State could handle as the Falcons soar past the Bison 5-1 at the Falcon Invitational. It is the third straight loss for NDSU and drops the Bison to 5-4-0 on the season.
For the third straight game, North Dakota State found itself down early as Katherine Slogic lobbed a shot past goalkeeper Monica Morgan in the fifth minute to put the Academy (2-5-2)on top 1-0. The Bison would answer back as freshman Abbey Stratton scored her first career goal off a free kick in the 37th minute that found its way over the wall of Falcon defenders. It appeared the game would head to halftime tied at one until Rachel Emory connected on a free kick of her own with 35 seconds remaining in the half to give Air Force the 2-1 lead.
NDSU picked up the intensity in the second half, but another goal by Emory in the 60th minute gave the momentum back to the Academy. The Falcons would seal the victory with two more goals in the final 15 minutes. The five goals was a season high for Air Force, as the Falcons had registered just two goals in its previous seven contests. Morgan finished with five saves including a handful that kept the contest close for NDSU.
