Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, IND. ? The North Dakota State soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to IUPUI today in Indianapolis. The Bison fall to 3-6-2 (0-1-1 Summit) and IUPUI's record is now 4-5-0 (1-1-0 Summit).
The Jaguars got the shooting started early, taking the first two shots of the match, but NDSU's Lorraine Thompson and Michelle Gaffaney responded with shots on frame. IUPUI goalie Jamie Farrell made the save on both attempts.
Gaffaney got her second chance in the 20th minute, but again was denied by Farrell. Junior Laura Murphy took a shot new, but Farrell responded with her fourth save. IUPUI then got a shot off in the 25th minute, but Bison goalie Kalani Bertsch responded well to make the save. Murphy's next shot was also saved by Farrell. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie, but NDSU had more chances with four shots on frame.
The second half was also closely contested. NDSU continued taking chances at goal when sophomore Quin Ryan had a header go wide of the goal barely 20 seconds into the half. Murphy forced another Farrell save a couple minutes later. Bertsch made two more saves in the half to keep the score knotted at 0-0.
In the 74th minute, IUPUI's Leslie Walker scored a header off a free kick from Natalie Holland to give the Jags a 1-0 lead.
Murphy had a last chance to tie the game in the 89th minute, but Farrell made the save to seal the shutout.
The Bison return to Fargo for their first home game since Sept. 9 when they take on Southern Utah on Friday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. at the Ellig Sports Complex.
