Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. ? The North Dakota State soccer team fell to Wisconsin-Green Bay, 3-1, on Sunday, Sept. 13. It was the third straight loss for the Bison, who fall to 2-4-1 this season. Green Bay improves to 2-4-0.
Freshman Brooklyn Dyce almost put the Bison up in the ninth minute, but her shot ricocheted off the crossbar. After Corey Arno scored on a rebounded shot in the 11th minute to put the home side up 1-0, the Bison responded with pressure on the Green Bay defense. NDSU earned three straight corner kicks before senior Laura Murphy's shot was saved.
Redshirt freshman Holly Christian equalized for the Bison in the 30th minute, scoring off an Abbey Stratton corner kick. It was the first goal of her career.
The tie was short lived, as Green Bay's Nicole Dooher put in a rebounded shot off a corner kick in the 42nd minute. The Phoenix went into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
After a couple early shots by Lorraine Thompson and Morgan DeMike, the Phoenix found the back of the net again when Sam Schiro slid the ball past goalie Kalani Bertsch for a 3-1 lead.
Dyce had another chance at goal in the closing minutes, but Green Bay goalie Maddie Drusch made the save.
The Bison outshot the Phoenix, 15-7 and held a 10-6 edge in corner kicks. Bertsch made three saves in the loss.
NDSU now travels to Boise, Idaho for the Soccer Etc./Nike Invitational Sept. 18-20. The Bison will play Boise State on Friday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. and Portland State on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m.
