Bison Earn 1-1 Double Overtime Draw with Boise State

Box Score

BOISE, Idaho - The  North Dakota State soccer team tied Boise State 1-1 in double overtime on Friday, Sept. 18.  The Bison improve to 2-4-2 while Boise State moves to 4-3-2.  The draw snaps a three game losing streak for NDSU.

"I'm happy with our effort tonight," said head coach Pete Cuadrado.  "It's good to go on the road and put on a solid performance."

After a scoreless first half, Boise State got on the board in the 48th minute when Cheyenne Jones scored from 30 yards out.

The Bison equalized after senior Lorraine Thompson's rocket shot was deflected into the goal by a Bronco defender.  It was officially scored as an own goal.

In a push for the game-winner in regulation, the Bison had a goal called back for a foul.  Boise State had a corner kick in the dying moments, but nothing came of it and the whistle blew for overtime.

Neither team had any shots in the first overtime.  Sophomore Aubrey Bot and Thompson both had shot opportunities in the second overtime, but couldn't convert.  Sophomore goalie Kalani Bertsch made two saves in the second overtime period.  She made nine saves in the game.

The Bison stay in Boise for a game against Portland State on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. Central.
