Kinnarath Nets Late Winner in 1-0 Victory over Oral Roberts

FARGO, N.D. - Freshman Anisha Kinnarath scored in the 87th minute to lead the North Dakota State soccer team to a 1-0 win over Oral Roberts on Sunday, Oct. 2.  The Bison improve to 9-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the Summit League, while Oral Roberts falls to 4-8-1 overall and 1-2-0 in league play.

The Bison held a 7-4 advantage in shots in the first half and forced three saves from Golden Eagles keeper Amanda Wheeler.  Oral Roberts had the last chances of the half as Megan Giles and Tatum Lynn both had shots saved by senior goalkeeper Kalani Bertsch.

The Bison were unable to put their first five shots of the second half on frame, but junior Holly Christian forced Wheeler into action at the 76:10 mark after letting a shot fly from the top of the box.  Wheeler was able to tip the shot onto the crossbar and out of harm's way.

Kinnarath broke through for the Bison at the 86:27 mark.  After receiving a pass from senior Morgan DeMike, Kinnarath slotted the ball into the lower left corner to give the team its only goal of the match.  Kinnarath has now scored three goals this season, including two in the last two games.

The Bison finished the game with an 18-7 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.  Bertsch earned her sixth shutout of the season after tallying three saves in the win.

The Bison finished their six-game homestand with a record of 5-0-1 and now hit the road for a pair of Summit League games at IUPUI Oct. 7 and Western Illinois Oct. 9.
