Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Senior Morgan DeMike and junior Brooklyn Dyce scored goals and senior Abbey Moenkedick tallied two assists as the North Dakota State soccer team defeated IUPUI, 2-0, on Friday, Oct. 7.
DeMike gave the Bison (10-2-1, 3-0-0 Summit) a 1-0 lead just four minutes and 44 seconds into the game as she headed the ball in after Moenkedick chipped it over the defense. It was DeMike's fourth goal of the season.
The Bison held an 8-2 advantage in shots in the first half and forced Jaguars keeper Giselle Guzman into four saves.
IUPUI (1-8-4, 0-2-1 Summit) applied some early pressure in the second half with three shots, but couldn't break through to tie the game.
Dyce added a second goal for NDSU in the 58th minute as she slotted the ball inside the left post off a pass from Moenkedick. Dyce now has three goals this season while Moenkedick upped her assist tally to six.
NDSU keeper Kalani Bertsch came up big with a pair of saves off shots from Chelsi McHenry and Kristin Pierce in the 76th and 77th minutes.
Bertsch made two late saves in the 89th minute from Megan Hock and McHenry to keep IUPUI off the scoresheet.
The Bison held a 13-11 edge in shots and a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Bertsch earned her seventh shutout of the year after making five saves.
NDSU will travel to Western Illinois for a noon contest on Sunday, Oct. 9.
