MACOMB, Ill. (AP) - Sam Ojuri rushed for 128 yards and three
touchdowns, Marcus Williams returned one of his two interceptions 56
yards for a score, and North Dakota State beat Western Illinois 37-21
Saturday to clinch a share of the Missouri Valley Football Conference
regular-season title.
North Dakota State claims the football program's 28th conference title overall and first since 2006 when NDSU won the Great West.
Brock Jensen added a rushing score to go with 196 yards passing for
the Bison (10-1, 7-1), who shook off losing their first game last week
to Youngstown State. North Dakota State should get a first-round bye in
the FCS playoffs.
Western Illinois (2-9, 1-7) got 106 yards rushing from Nikko Watson and 104 from Caulton Ray, with each scoring a touchdown.
Cody Reardon threw a 10-yard TD pass to Rick Richardson for the
Leathernecks, but completed just five other passes for 82 yards total.
Williams intercepted him twice, returning the second one to give North
Dakota State a 34-0 lead five minutes into the third quarter.
