Bison Travel to Maine, Holy Cross for Pair of Non-League Road Contests
        The NDSU women's soccer team will travel to Maine and Holy Cross for a pair of non-league road contests this weekend. The Bison will face-off against the University of Maine Black Bears Friday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m. ET (3 p.m. CT) in Orono, Maine before traveling to Worcester, Mass., for a showdown with the College of Holy Cross Crusaders on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT).
 
The Series against Maine
Friday's match at Maine will mark the first-ever meeting between the Bison and the Black Bears on the soccer pitch.
 
The Series against Holy Cross
Sunday's contest at Holy Cross will be the inaugural meeting between NDSU and the Crusaders on the soccer pitch.
 
About Maine
Maine, a member of the America East Conference, enters the week with an overall record of 1-5. The Black Bears lone win was against Quinnipiac on Aug. 22. Maine has suffered setbacks to Bryant, Fairfield, Fordham, Holy Cross and Northeastern ... The Black Bears are 1-2 at home in Orono this season but 0-3 on the road ... Maine has scored just two goals in its first six matches this season ... Charlene Achille has netted both scores for the Black Bears and leads the team in points with four ... Eve L'Abbe has taken a team-high nine shots while Achille has tallied eight shots. Achille and L'Abbe both have a team-best four shots on goal ... Claudia Dube-Trempe has started three of Maine's six matches in goal, making 12 saves while allowing two goals for a goals-against average (GAA) of 0.67. She has a 1-1 record with one shutout for the Black Bears ... As a team, Maine averages 8.0 shots per game and has a SOG percentage of .354 compared to a .466 percentage for its opponents.
 
About Holy Cross
Holy Cross, a member of the Patriot League, enters the week with an overall mark of 6-0. The Crusaders have tallied victories against Siena, LIU Brooklyn, New Hampshire, Bryant, Maine and Albany ... The Crusaders are 3-0 at home and 3-0 on the road through their first six matches ... Aly Spencer leads Holy Cross in scoring with six goals and total points with 13. She also has one assist on the season and has a team-best 11 shots on goal ... Caitlin Harty, Sarah Price and Annie Galvin are tied for the team lead in assists with two each ... Goalkeeper Carly McCabe has made started all six matches for the Crusaders in goal. She has given up just one goal in 530:39 and has made 18 saves for a GAA of 0.17. McCabe is 6-0 in goal with four shutouts for Holy Cross ... As a team, Holy Cross is averaging 2.67 goals per game while limiting its opponents to 0.17.
 
Catching Up with the Bison
The Bison enter Friday's match with an overall record of 4-1 after dropping their first match of the season to Iowa State Sunday, Sept. 7, at home, 1-0 ... The Bison were able to hold the Iowa State Cyclones scoreless until the 82nd-minute when Koree Willer netted her team-high fourth goal to give Iowa State the 1-0 lead. NDSU was unable to find an equalizer the final eight minutes of the match, leading to the setback ... Sierra Bonham posted a game-high six saves for NDSU in the match with the Cyclones Sunday ... Through its first five matches, NDSU is led in scoring by Lauren Miller, who has a team-and Summit League-high seven goals. Miller also leads the team and league in total points (14), goals per game (1.40) and game-winning goals (3). She is ranked third in goals per game and total goals and fourth in game-winning goals in the most recent NCAA statistics ... Amy Yang leads the Bison and is tied for The Summit League lead in assists through five matches with four.  She is tied for 20th in assists in the latest NCAA statistics.
Bonham has made all five starts in goal for NDSU and has compiled a record of 4-1 with one shutout. She has given up three goals while making 21 saves in 418:20 minutes for a GAA average of 0.65. Bonham leads The Summit League in GAA and save percentage (.875) ... On the season, NDSU is 2-1 at home and 2-0 on the road ... As a team, the Bison average 2.60 goals per game while holding their opponents to 0.60 per game. NDSU is outshooting its opponents, on average, 13.2 to 12.6 and has taken 24 corner kicks compared to 19 from its adversaries.   
 
NDSU Tabbed Third in Summit League Preseason Poll
        The North Dakota State University women's soccer team was picked to finish third in The Summit League's preseason poll. Reigning league champion Denver was selected as the preseason favorite in a vote of the league's nine head coaches. South Dakota State was second followed by the Bison at third. Oral Roberts was fourth followed by Western Illinois at fifth and Fort Wayne at sixth. IUPUI, Omaha and South Dakota rounded out the poll at seventh, eighth and ninth.

        The Bison travel to SIU Edwardsville and Drake for a pair of non-league road matches. NDSU will face the Cougars of SIU Edwardsville at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, before facing the Drake Bulldogs at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21.
