NDSU Faces St. Cloud State in 2015 Regular Season Home Opener FridayThe North Dakota State University women's soccer team (0-2-0) will take on the St. Cloud State University Huskies in the 2015 regular season home opener on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. at Dacotah Field.

The Series Against St. Cloud StateFriday's regular season home opener will mark the 11th meeting in the all-time series that dates back to 1995. The match will also mark the first time the Bison and Huskies have faced each other on the soccer pitch since NDSU reclassified to NCAA Division I. NDSU leads the series, 7-3, and has won the last six meetings. When the two teams last met in 2003, the Bison tallied a 4-0 win over the Huskies in Fargo. NDSU's last loss to SCSU was a 3-0 setback in St. Cloud, Minn., during the 1997 season.

About St. Cloud State- Friday's match against the Bison will be the second of three exhibition matches for St. Cloud State. The Huskies don't open regular season play until Sept. 4, when they are scheduled to host Northern Michigan University.
- St. Cloud State was picked to finish tied for 10th with Concordia-St. Paul in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Last season, the Huskies posted an overall record of 6-11-1 and finished tied for 11th in the NSIC with a conference record of 5-9-1.
- The Huskies return senior midfielder Michelle Cornell, who netted two goals for SCSU in 2014 and has 10 career goals at St. Cloud State. Cornell was named All-NSIC Honorable Mention last season.Â
- As a team, St. Cloud State averaged just 0.83 goals per game last season while surrendering 1.72 per game to its opponents.
- The Huskies are under the leadership of second season head coach Gretta Arvesen (6-11-1 record at SCSU).

Herd Quick Hits- NDSU enters Friday's regular season home opener with an overall record of 0-2-0 after dropping a pair of matches at Minnesota and 14th-ranked Wisconsin last weekend.
- In the 2015 regular season opener at Minnesota in Saint Paul, Minn., on Friday, Aug. 21, the Bison fell, 3-0, before falling to No. 14 Wisconsin in overtime on Sunday, Aug. 23, in Madison, Wis., 2-1.
- Goalkeeper Sierra Bonham made a combined 19 saves in NDSU's two matches last weekend, stopping 13 shots at Minnesota and six at Wisconsin.
- Sunday at Wisconsin, junior forward Lauren Miller netted the Bison's first goal of the 2015 regular season when she scored from close range off passes from freshmen Roxy Roemer and Britney Monteon in the 82nd-minute. The goal tied the match, 1-1, and eventually forced overtime.
- Entering Friday, North Dakota State is 14-5 all-time in home openers.
- The Bison welcome back eight starters and 13 letterwinners from last season's team, including All-Summit League performers in Sierra Bonham, Lauren Miller, Meghan Johnston and Amy Yang.
- NDSU welcomes seven newcomers in freshmen Hanna Norman (D), Roxy Roemer (MF), Holly Enderle (F), Mallory Fenske (D), Taylor Turner (D) and Britney Monteon (F), and transfer Julia Edelstein (GK).
- Seven of the Bison's first nine matches will be played away from the friendly confines of Dacotah Field. NDSU's lone home matches during that span will be the regular season home opener on Aug. 28 with St. Cloud State and against North Dakota on Sept. 11.
- NDSU was picked third out of nine teams for the second consecutive year in The Summit League Preseason Coaches Poll.
- North Dakota State returns 77 percent of its goal scoring from last season.

Rewinding to 2014- The Bison compiled an overall record of 8-8-2 and a Summit League mark of 4-2-2 last season, finishing fourth in the league.
- NDSU qualified for The Summit League Women's Soccer Championship for the sixth consecutive season.
- The Bison had five student-athletes named All-Summit League, including Sierra Bonham, who was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Year after compiling a 0.94 goals-against average with 5.1 shutouts and a .827 save percentage. Bonham was the first-ever NDSU student-athlete to earn the honor.
- Bonham as well as Lauren Miller were selected to the All-Summit League first team, while Meghan Johnston, Anisha Kinnarath and Amy Yang were named second team all-league.
- Miller led the team in goals (9), points (19), shots on goal (23) and game-winning goals (5), while Yang dished out a team-high five assists.
- NDSU averaged 1.22 goals per game and netted 22 goals on 196 shot attempts.

Previous Week Match RecapsSunday, Aug. 23, at No. 14 WisconsinFinal Score: No. 14 Wisconsin 2, NDSU 1 (OT)MADISON, Wis. -- The North Dakota State University women's soccer team (0-2-0) scored a late goal to force overtime, but fell to the No. 14-ranked Wisconsin Badgers (2-0-0), 2-1, on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23, in front of 520 spectators at McClimon Sports Complex in Madison.
After Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead 24 minutes into the match,
Lauren Miller netted the equalizing goal for the Bison in the 82nd-minute with a strike from close range off passes from
Roxy Roemer and
Britney Monteon.
The Bison defense held the Badgers scoreless the remaining eight minutes of regulation to force overtime.
NDSU nearly netted the game-winning goal twice in the extra frame, but Miller's shot in the 94th-minute hit the crossbar and
Holly Enderle's strike seconds later was saved at the goal line by Wisconsin goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem.
The Badgers' Rose Lavelle, who was ranked the No. 2 collegiate women's soccer player by Top Drawer Soccer entering the season, netted a goal from 20 yards out with 19 seconds remaining in overtime, securing the victory for Wisconsin. Â

Sierra Bonham made six saves, going the full 99 minutes, 41 seconds between the pipes, but took the loss to fall to 0-2-0 on the season.
For the match, North Dakota State was outshot by Wisconsin, 24-13, but tallied a 5-4 advantage over the Badgers in corner kicks taken.

Friday, Aug. 21, at MinnesotaFinal Score: Minnesota 3, NDSU 0SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- The North Dakota State University women's soccer team (0-1-0) dropped its 2015 regular season opener at Minnesota (1-0-0), 3-0, on Friday, Aug. 21, in front of a standing room only crowd of 1,221 at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in Saint Paul.
The Golden Gophers, who received votes in the NSCAA Preseason Poll, netted goals in the 24th, 29th and 49th minutes of the match while holding the Bison to just three shots to secure the shutout win.

Sierra Bonham made a match-high 13 saves – two shy of her career-high – but took the loss between the pipes to drop to 0-1-0 on the season.

Lauren Miller tallied the only shot on frame for NDSU.
Forward Simone Kolander netted two of three goals for the Golden Gophers, while striker Sydney Squires tallied the third score for the home side.

Head Coach Mark CookMark Cook is in his fourth season at the helm of the North Dakota State soccer program after being named head coach in 2012. He is the fourth head coach in the 20-year history of the program.
Last season, Cook led the Bison to an 8-8-2 overall record and a fourth place finish in The Summit League with a league mark of 4-2-2. North Dakota State made its sixth consecutive appearance in The Summit League tournament and had five student-athletes named All-Summit League, including goalkeeper
Sierra Bonham, who was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Year after compiling a 0.94 goals-against average with 5.1 shutouts and a save percentage of .827. Bonham was the first-ever NDSU student-athlete to earn the honor.
Cook came to NDSU after serving as the Director of Coaching at the Minnesota Thunder Academy for 11 years, where he grew a four-team program into one of the premier club programs in the Twin Cities with 65 teams in 2012.
Cook holds the United States Soccer Federation 'A' coaching license, the highest certification available in the U.S. He also has the NSCAA Premier License and Director of Coaching Diploma.
He graduated from Alfred (N.Y.) University in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in communications. He was the starting goalkeeper at Alfred for two years.

Up NextNDSU travels to California for a pair of non-league matches. The Bison will battle UC Davis in Davis, Calif., on Sept. 4 before taking on Pacific in Stockton, Calif., on Sept. 6.
