Quick Notes:
  • The defending Summit League regular season champion North Dakota State University women's soccer team is scheduled to open league play Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at Omaha before continuing league action Sunday, Oct. 2, at Oral Roberts at 1 p.m. in Tulsa, Okla. 
  • NDSU has been idle since Sept. 20, when it rolled to a 7-0 shutout win over Jamestown under the lights at Dacotah Field. 
  • For the first time in program history, North Dakota State was picked as the preseason favorite in The Summit League preseason coaches' poll.
  • North Dakota State returns seven starters from last season's Summit League regular season championship team, including six All-Summit League honorees. 
  • The Bison welcome back reigning Summit League Offensive Player of the Year Lauren Miller and Freshman of the Year Britney Monteon

The Series Against Omaha
    Thursday's match at Omaha will mark the 11th meeting in the all-time series. NDSU leads the series, 6-3-1. Last season, the Bison defeated the Mavericks in Fargo, 1-0.

The Series Against Oral Roberts
    Sunday afternoon's contest at Oral Roberts will be the eighth meeting in the all-time series. The Bison hold a 5-1-1 advantage in the series. Last season, NDSU defeated ORU at home, 1-0.

Scouting Omaha
  • The Omaha Mavericks enter the week at 2-7-2 overall after falling at CSUN, 2-0, Sept. 25 in Northridge, Calif. 
  • Through nine matches, the Mavs are paced offensively by junior midfielder Carlie Cook with a team-high four goals, two assists and 10 points. Cook has tallied 11 shots on goal in 18 attempts.
  • Redshirt senior goalkeeper Haley Shelton has started and played in seven of Omaha's nine matches. She has allowed 10 goals while making 51 saves for a 1.39 goals-against average (GAA). Shelton is 1-4-2 between the posts with two shutouts. 
  • As a team, the Mavs are averaging only 0.82 goals per game while giving up 1.45 goals per game. Omaha is being outshot by opponents, 16.5 to 9.9. 
  • UNO was picked to finish seventh in The Summit League preseason poll. 
  • The Mavericks are under the leadership of 18th season head coach Don Klosterman

Scouting Oral Roberts
  • The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles enter the week at 5-6-1 overall after losing at UMKC, 4-0, Sept. 25 in Kansas City, Mo. 
  • Through 12 matches, ORU is paced offensively by junior midfielder Lexi Jones (four goals, one assist, nine points, 10 shots on goal), redshirt junior forward Alexia Herrera (three goals, six points, 10 shots on goal) and senior forward Brittany Lawrence (two goals, two assists, six points, 19 shots on goal). 
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Ryliegh Bohnenstiehl has played in 10 matches and made nine starts for Oral Roberts. She has surrendered 12 goals while making 38 saves for a 1.46 GAA. Bohnenstiehl is 2-5-1 between the posts. She was named The Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 26. 
  • As a team, the Golden Eagles are averaging 1.50 goals per game while allowing 1.42 goals per game. ORU is averaging 15.7 shots per game. 
  • Oral Roberts was picked to finish third in The Summit League preseason poll. 
  • Oral Roberts is under the direction of fourth season head coach Roger Bush

Summit League Player of the Week Honors
Hat-Trick Holly
    Holly Enderle became the first Bison to tally two hat tricks in one season since Lauren Miller accomplished the feat last season. Enderle compiled hat tricks at UND Sept. 2 and at UNC Asheville Sept. 16. Miller tallied hat tricks against St. Cloud State and at Denver last season. 

Looking Back at 2015
  • The Bison tallied a 13-6-1 overall record and went unbeaten in Summit League play at 7-0-1 for the first time in program history, claiming the league's regular season championship for the first time since 2009.
  • The 13 wins marked the most victories since the 2011 season.
  • NDSU went a perfect 4-0-0 at home in Summit League competition.
  • The Bison has a program record nine student-athletes earn All-Summit League honors, including Offensive Player of the Year Lauren Miller, Goalkeeper of the Year Sierra Bonham and Freshman of the Year Britney Monteon. In addition, head coach Mark Cook was voted The Summit League Coach of the Year.
  • Miller and Amy Yang were named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Third Team.
  • Miller, Yang and Meghan Johnston were voted to The Summit League Academic All-League Team.
  • Miller set a new NDSU single-season record for goals (18) and points (41).
  • Bonham tied the NDSU single-season record with 111 saves.

Head Coach Mark Cook
    Mark Cook is in his fifth season at the helm of the North Dakota State soccer program after being named head coach in 2012.  He is the fourth head coach in the 20-year history of the program.
     Cook led NDSU to its first Summit League regular season title since 2009 with a 7-0-1 Summit League record in 2015. It was the first time in program history the Bison finished league play unbeaten. NDSU qualified for its seventh consecutive Summit League tournament and advanced to the tournament championship match for the second time in three seasons before falling to South Dakota State to finish the season at 13-6-1 overall. A program record nine student-athletes earned All-Summit League honors, including Goalkeeper of the Year Sierra Bonham, Offensive Player of the Year Lauren Miller and Freshman of the Year Britney Monteon. In addition, Cook was voted The Summit League Coach of the Year. Miller, along with Amy Yang, were named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Third Team to become the first Bison to be named NSCAA All-Region since 2003 and the first for North Dakota State in the Division I era. 
     Cook came to NDSU after serving as the Director of Coaching at the Minnesota Thunder Academy for 11 years, where he grew a four-team program into one of the premier club programs in the Twin Cities with 65 teams in 2012.
     Cook holds the United States Soccer Federation 'A' coaching license, the highest certification available in the U.S.  He also has the NSCAA Premier License and Director of Coaching Diploma.
     He graduated from Alfred (N.Y.) University in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in communications. He was the starting goalkeeper at Alfred for two years.
