Scene Setter
The North Dakota State Bison women's soccer team (8-6 overall, 5-2 Summit) hits the road for the final regular season match of the year. The Bison will travel to Vermillion, S.D. to face South Dakota (8-6-2 overall, 3-3 Summit) to face the Coyotes. The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at  First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex.

The Series with South Dakota
NDSU is 11-2-1 all-time against South Dakota. The Bison are 3-1-1 against the Coyotes in Vermillion, having lost the last meeting 4-0 in 2016. NDSU is looking for its first win in Vermillion since a 1-0 win in 2011 after the two teams finished in a 2-2 double overtime tie in 2014. Four of the 14 contests between the two have gone to overtime, including three going to double overtime.
 
North Dakota State Notes
-NDSU pitched a 1-0 overtime shutout against Oral Roberts on Oct. 19 at Dacotah Field. It was the sixth time in the last seven matches between NDSU and Oral Roberts that there was a shutout. NDSU had wins in five of those six shutouts.
-The Bison recorded 24 shots in the win over Oral Roberts and 20 in a loss to Omaha on Oct. 21. NDSU has hit double-digit shot attempts in 10-straight matches. ---The 24 shots against Oral Roberts were the most since having 25 in the season-opener at Green Bay.
-Mariah Haberle's 11 shots against Oral Roberts are tied for the fourth most in a single match in school history.
-The victory over Oral Roberts was the third shutout of the season for NDSU.
-NDSU posted back-to-back 1-0 wins for the first time since beating Omaha and Oral Roberts on Oct. 2 and 4, 2015.
-Mariah Haberle moved into seventh in school history with 69 shots on the season.
-Roxy Roemer ranks 15th in the nation with .57 assists per match, while also ranking 22nd with eight total assists.
-Mariah Haberle ranks ninth in the nation with 4.93 shots per game, while also ranking 14th with 2.36 shots on goal per game.
-Bison junior Monica Polgar earned The Summit League Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance against SDSU, where she notched four saves. It was her first honor of the season and the fifth time in her career she has earned the award.
-The Bison scored a pair of goals in a span of less than three minutes in the second half at North Dakota on Oct. 7, earning a 2-1 victory. Trailing 1-0, NDSU netted two goals in 2 minutes and 30 seconds to surge into the lead. Bison senior Hanna Norman beat UND keeper Olivia Swenson in the 76th minute, and senior Malley O'Brien scored for NDSU in the 78th minute.
-NDSU's five goals at Purdue Fort Wayne on Sept. 30 were its most in a Summit League match since a 5-0 victory over the Mastodons on Oct. 23, 2016.
-NDSU senior defender Hanna Norman was named The Summit League's Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 1. Norman scored two goals, including the game-winner at Western Illinois, as the Bison allowed only one goal in 194 minutes of action.
-Junior goalkeeper Monica Polgar is the fourth player in school history with 25 or more victories in the net. 
-Junior Mariah Haberle leads the Bison in points (14), goals (6), shots (69) and shots on goal (33). 
-The Bison welcomed back 10 starters from last season, including three all-league honorees in Malley O'Brien (first team), Hanna Norman (second team) and Danielle Algera (freshmen team). Goalkeeper Monica Polgar, who ranked second in The Summit League with six shutouts, also returns as a starter. 
 
About South Dakota
-The Coyotes enter the weekend with an 8-6-2 overall record and 3-3 in The Summit League. South Dakota has one regular season match remaining after playing NDSU on Friday, as they host North Dakota on Sunday.
-South Dakota is 3-2 in its last five matches, with the two losses both coming 1-0. The three victories in the span were over Oral Roberts (3-1), Western Illinois (2-1) and Purdue Fort Wayne (5-0).
-The Coyotes have gone to overtime four times this season in 16 matches. South Dakota is 0-2-2 in those four matches.
-Taryn LaBree leads the Coyotes with six goals on the year and 15 assists. She also has a game-winning goal.
-Kellee Willer has a team-high seven assists for South Dakota. She also ranks second in points with 13, while having two game-winning goals.

On the Horizon
NDSU will return to action on Nov. 1 in The Summit League Championship Semifinals. The times for the two semifinal matches are yet to be determined for the tournament in Brookings, S.D.
