AUSTIN, Texas – North Dakota State senior thrower Payton Otterdahl improved his own school record in the discus twice on Friday at the Texas Relays.
After extending his record to 197-5 (60.18m) on his fifth throw of the meet, Otterdahl threw 201-4 (61.36m) on his sixth and final attempt to finish as the top collegian in the meet. He ranks third on the NCAA performance list this season.
Otterdahl will compete in the shot put Saturday at the Texas Relays.
Redshirt freshman Brandon Lewis also altered the NDSU record books on Friday with a huge long jump mark of 24-07.75 (7.51m) at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational. That ranks him fifth in NDSU history – and is the best long jump by a Bison in more than 20 years.
Bison junior Michael Keogan threw an outdoor personal-best 59-02.25 (18.04m) in his section of the shot put at the Texas Relays Friday morning, ranking eighth in NDSU history.
Senior J.T. Butler ran a personal-best 10.62 in the 100m dash, making him the second-fastest Bison in the 100m in the past eight years. Senior Kelle'Mon Hinton went 48-05.25 (14.76m) in the triple jump at the Texas Relays.
At the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, Bison senior Jacob Richter ran the second-fastest outdoor 400m of his career, finishing in 48.01. Sophomore Cody Roder clocked a personal-best 48.11.
