NDSU Soccer Set to Take On UND On Homecoming/Senior Day

FARGO, N.D. - The Bison are set to wrap up a three-game home stand to begin Summit League play on Sunday, as North Dakota State will welcome in-state rival University of North Dakota to Dacotah Field. The Bison and Fighting Hawks are slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff for the 18th all-time meeting between the two sides.
 
WDAY Xtra
This week's game against North Dakota will feature live coverage on the ABC network WDAY Xtra, being televised across the state of North Dakota. Logan Campbell will be calling the play-by-play with Robert Seigel as an analyst for the game. WDAY Xtra can be found over the air at WDAY channel 6-3 in Fargo, WDAZ channel 8-3 in Grand Forks, KBMY channel 17-3 in Bismarck and Dickinson and KMCY channel 14-3 in Minot and Williston.

The match against the Fighting Hawks will also be available on the radio on Bison 1660 with Andy Rieckhoff calling the play-by-play.
 
2021 Season Attendance Policy
With the return to a traditional fall season for the Bison and matches being played with the standard Dacotah Field layout, attendance to NDSU home soccer matches is once again open to the general public. Fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks to Bison soccer games and maintain social distancing where possible with the COVID-19 Pandemic still impacting our community.
 
Bison Coming Off 1-1 Start In Summit League Play
North Dakota State snapped a seven-game winless streak on Friday as they opened up Summit League play with a thrilling 3-2 win over Oral Roberts. However, the Bison fell to Kansas City 1-0 to close the weekend on Sunday, despite outshooting the Roos and holding Kansas City to just a pair of shots on target.
 
Algera Set to Crack Top 10 In All-time Games Played for Bison
Danielle Algera is the active leader for the Bison in games played (77) and games started (70). The Winnipeg native is on pace to crack the top 10 (78) for the Bison in games played against North Dakota. She is also two starts from the top 10 (72). Algera could climb to second in both categories this season. The senior also surpassed the 6,000 career minutes played milestone last week in the Summit League opening victory against Oral Roberts. Algera is the is the active leader in minutes played with 6097.
 
Schneider Playing Every Minute for Bison
Earlier this season against Pacific, Ellie Schneider surpassed 3,000 career minutes as a Bison, one of just three active players on the list to do so (Danielle Algera and Brookelyn Dew). The senior is the only player for the Bison to play all 845 minutes this season.
 
Lovick Takes Over Active Lead In Goals, Points
Olivia Lovick had a two-goal game against Oral Roberts in the Summit League opener last Friday. With the goals, the sophomore move into sole possession of first on the active scoring and points lists for the Bison. She now has eight career goals, breaking a tie with Brookelyn Dew (6) atop the goal-scoring list. Lovick is also now the active points leader with 18, surpassing Dew (17).
 
Bison Have Recent History of Overcoming Slow Start
Despite the slow start to the season, there is optimism for the Bison on the pitch. NDSU started the season 0-4 and closed conference play 0-6-1. However, the Bison has started a season 0-4 one other time in the NCAA DI era, going 0-8 with just one goal in 2017. The Bison would turn things around over the second half of the season, going 7-2 over the remainder of the regular season and finished 2017 with a second-place finish in the Summit League during the regular season. They also finished as the runner-up in the conference tournament.
 
This is Our Field
The Bison have called Dacotah Field home since the beginning of the 2013 season after moving to their new home from the Ellig Sports Complex. NDSU Soccer has recorded a 41-23-5 (.636) record at Dacotah Field in nine seasons. The Bison have had just one losing season at Dacotah Field and recently have recorded an 11-4-3 (.694) record over the last two seasons.
 
About North Dakota
Like the Bison, North Dakota opened up Summit League play last week with a victory over Oral Roberts and a loss to Kansas City. The Fighting Hawks entered league play with a 2-5-1 record in non-conference action, with just one win against a Division I opponent, defeating Southern at the end of August. The Fighting Hawks are winless in their last four trips away from home, going 0-3-1 during the stretch.
 
North Dakota's Bailey McNitt and Mara Yapello lead the team with three goals each this season, but the duo have combined to score just one goal in the last four games. However, McNitt recorded assists on both goals against Oral Roberts and has a team high three assists on the season.
 
Madi Livingston has started all 10 games in goal for North Dakota. In 891 minutes of action, she has allowed 13 goals for a 1.31 goals against average. She has a 78.7 percent save percentage.
 
The Series with North Dakota
Sunday's game between the Bison and Fighting Hawks will be the 18th all-time meeting, with the series dating back to October 23, 1999 as the Bison picked up a 2-1 victory over the then Fighting Sioux in Grand Forks. NDSU is 10-6-1 all-time against North Dakota.
 
The Bison are 5-2-1 against North Dakota in Fargo. During the Division I era, the Bison have been dominant against the Fighting Hawks, holding an 8-3-1 record, including 4-1-1 mark at home.
 
In the last decade, the Bison have a pair of three-game win streaks against UND and have two victories by three goals. The largest win in the series came in favor of the bison, 7-1, in 2000.
 
Last Time Against North Dakota
North Dakota scored a goal in the first 10 minutes of the match on Sunday (March 14), as the Fighting Hawks held on for a 1-0 win over the North Dakota State soccer team in Summit League play at Bronson Field.
 
In the ninth minute, off an assist from Cassie Giddings and Hannah Olson, Mara Yapello scored the only goal of the match to put the hosts ahead.
 
The Bison had a 9-4 advantage in shots, while each team had two shots on goal. Olivia Lovick had four shots for the Bison, while Lavin Douglass had both shots on goal.
 
Aly Cole dropped to 4-2 in the net, as she recorded a save.
 
On The Day
The Bison will play for the ninth time in program history on October 10. The first game came in the program's first season in 1995 and the Bison are 2-5-1 all-time on the date. The Bison are 2-2 at home on October 10, but haven't played at home on the date since a 2-1 win in overtime against IUPUI in 2010. It is the first time that the Bison will meet North Dakota on the day, with Omaha (3) and IUPUI (2) being the only opponents played multiple times. The only other win for the Bison on the day came in 1999 against Omaha, a 3-1 win in Fargo.
 
On the Horizon
North Dakota State is set to hit the road for the first time this season in Summit League play, as the Bison will travel south to Brookings for the first of two games next week in South Dakota as the Bison take on South Dakota State on Friday, October 15. Kickoff between the Bison and Jackrabbits is slated for 6 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park.
