SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – North Dakota State racked up 534 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers to beat Missouri State 38-10 on Saturday, Oct. 7, before a crowd of 8,727 at Plaster Stadium.
NDSU (4-1, 1-1 MVFC) scored on its first two possessions with
Cam Miller's 23-yard touchdown pass to
Zach Mathis and Miller's 9-yard touchdown run.
Cole Payton added a 20-yard TD run and Mathis caught a 33-yard TD from Miller as the Bison built a 28-7 halftime lead. NDSU had 351 total yards at intermission.
Mathis finished with six receptions for a career-high 160 yards and two touchdowns and Miller was four yards shy of a career high finishing 16 of 20 for 256 yards. Payton threw his first career touchdown pass, a 4-yard strike to
Jake Lippe.
St. Louis native
Logan Kopp had nine tackles, two pass breakups, and forced and recovered a fumble. Fellow NDSU linebacker
Julian Wlodarczyk made a team- and career-high 10 tackles with two pass breakups.
The Bison defense had 11 pass breakups plus three interceptions by
Luke Weerts,
Jayden Price and
Cole Wisniewski, who returned his pick 64 yards.
North Dakota State is on the road again next week to face North Dakota at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. UND (3-2, 1-1 MVFC) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 49-10 homecoming win over Western Illinois.
