FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State soccer picked up a 3-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on senior night at Dacotah Field on Friday, Sept. 15, to close out non-conference play.
Amaya Garrett scored in the first half and
Elana Webber and senior
Paige Goaley added second half tallies as the Bison (4-3-2) controlled the game, outnumbering the Lions (4-4-1) 33-5 in shots.
In the sixth minute, Garrett struck a volley directly off of senior
Kelsey Kallio's corner kick and beat UAPB goalkeeper Alexia Muniz to give the Bison the lead. The goal was her third and tied Garrett for the team lead this season. The assist was Kallio's 13
th, extending her active lead for NDSU.
The Bison dominated play for much of the game, but didn't extend the lead until the 82
nd minute, when Webber struck a one-time shot off of a partial clearance, finding the top right corner form 27 yards out for her first career goal.
Goaley would cap off senior night in style four minutes later, as she collected a rebound and tucked a shot in the corner past Muniz after an initial diving save on a strike from
Olivia Watson.
On the other end of the field, senior NDSU goalkeeper
Abby Wilkinson made four stops on the night for her eighth career shutout.
With the victory, the Bison close out non-conference play. The Bison will open up Summit League play at Dacotah Field next week, hosting Kansas City on Thursday, Sept. 21. The game will be streamed live on the Summit League Network.
